Conference
There will be mainly conferences in Inventorum that are meetings of academic and business communities, aimed at establishing cooperation between these communities and to promote innovations, research results, prototypes. It is not the aim of the system to collect information about all scientific and business conferences.
Expert
A person who has a significant knowledge and experience in a particular area, but not necessarily has an academic degree and/or title. An expert has specific practical skills.
Innovation
Innovation is a product or service that is new or significantly improved, which means the presence of one or more of the following situations:
  • Improvements in terms of functionality and characteristics of the product or service
  • Improvements in the technical characteristics of the product, used components and materials and production methods, including methods to create services
  • Implementation of a new or significantly improved method of introducing a material product or providing a service on the market
  • Introduction of new uses for previously existing products
The condition for the recognition of a product or service as an innovation is the introduction of changes which will prove useful for the recipient and/or beneficial economically for the company which implements them. There are the following categories of innovations:
  • Product innovation
  • Process innovation
  • Marketing innovation
  • Organizational innovation

Innovative company
The innovative company is one that meets at least one of the following conditions:
  • Undertakes actions (scientific, technical, organizational, financial, and commercial), which tend to implement innovations and provides funds for innovative operations
  • Brings innovations to the market – this means that in the researched period (e.g. 3 years: 2011-2013), it introduced at least one innovation (product, process, marketing, or organizational) or significantly improved process and product and/or implemented at least one innovation project at that time
At the same time, the innovative activities of the company in this period can mean:
  • Activity successfully completed with the implementation of the innovation
  • Current activity in progress, which has not led to the innovation implementation yet
  • The activity undertaken, but discontinued before the implementation of the innovation
Marketing innovation
The implementation of a new marketing method involving significant changes in project/product design or packaging, distribution, promotion, and pricing strategy.
Organizational innovation
The implementation of a new organizational method in the firm's business practices, workplace organization or external relations.
Process innovation
Process innovation is the implementation of a new or significantly improved production or delivery method. This category includes significant changes in techniques, equipment and/or software.
Product innovation
The introduction of a good or service that is new or significantly improved with respect to its characteristics or intended uses. This includes significant improvements in technical specifications, components and materials, incorporated software, user friendliness or other functional characteristics.
Project
In Inventorum, the project is a venture resulting in innovations, implemented by scientific institutions and/or innovative companies. The project may be completed, in progress or proposed. The proposed project is an innovative or research idea for which partners are searched for in order to implement it.
Reviewer
A person who has a significant knowledge and experience in a particular area, and also has an academic degree and/or title. The reviewer has in-depth theoretical knowledge and at least a doctoral degree.
